The Auckland Unitary plan is divided into six main planning zones. Each zone has a full set of planning rules and controls that dictate what is allowed.
Further complicating your eligibility to build are the Government imposed nationwide planning rules. The Medium Density Residential Standards (MDRS) were introduced in 2022 and must also be considered for every project.
